This is the stock vehicle as it appeared in the Ebay listing. The plan is to convert the truck to a military 4x2. Later on the truck may be converted to a 4x4.
The first part to be fabricated was a new bumper.
Towing shackles were attached to the bumper with parts made from "T" shaped extrusion.
The bumper was hand formed from hard anodized aluminum channel with steel plates on the top and bottom.
Steel wires were used to make light guards. The holes in the bumper for the lights were chain drilled and filed.
JB Weld was used to secure the wire behind the headlight openings.
The trucks cab was lifted more than nine scale inches.
The bumper is fitted to the truck. A 3 Racing Crawler winch was installed in the front bumper.
Under the white bracket you can see the brass standoffs that lift the cab up for better clearance in the wheel wells.
Many components were relocated from the underside of the chassis to enhance the ground clearance. This is the steering servo. It was flipped to enhance clearance.
These brass standoffs lift the bed of the truck.
This small hydraulic crane will be mounted behind the cab.
This is the start of the new bed. It is made from a piece of 1/4" thick plate aluminum.
The 3R winch is mounted upside down so the cab can still hinge forward for service. A hole was opened up in the center of the winch mounting plate so you can see the spool of rope.
The winch came with a lobster clip. It was replaced with a cast metal hook.
Brand new rims and tires!
The Fulda Crossforce tires are made in Germany and they are a direct-fit replacement for the Tamiya truck tires.
The aluminum truck wheels are CNC machined from billet aluminum. They have a very nice finish. It's almost a shame to paint them!
Each wheel has an aluminum center cap that is secured with nine tiny allen screws.
The back side of the rear wheels have a hex shaped hole for the Tamiya drive hubs.
The back side of the front wheels has a socket that the stock bearings fit into.
